    • Must possess a standard U.S. high school diploma or GED from a school accredited by an approved accrediting association.  
    • All applicants must take the advanced-level Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)
    • Physical examination/immunizations
    • Criminal background checks

Core Content

Instruction is designed to enable individuals to achieve instructional objectives in the following content areas: nursing skills, life span, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, medical nursing, surgical nursing, pediatric nursing, geriatric nursing, personal and community health, pharmacology, employability skills, leadership and human relations skills. 

Fifty percent of the training is spent in the clinical areas and includes: maternal and newborn, pediatrics, medical/surgical, and experience in extended care facilities.  Clinical placement is determined through the Coordinating Council.

Industry Certification/Licensure

This program was placed on probation Feburary, 2018 for one year due to NCLEX pass rate of students. It is anticipated that probation will be lifted once the most up-to-date data has been received.  This in no way is a reflection on the quality of the curriculum.

Successful program completion prepares students for the National Council Licensure Examination for Florida (NCLEX).

BTCPN Certification and Licensure Practical Nursing

Statewide Articulation (Community Colleges in Florida):

Students completing the program receive credits toward a Registered Nurse A.S. Degree at Hillsborough Community College or any community college in the statewide system.
